Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Museum

The historic Queen Anne home and museum known as the Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Museum can be found in Oak Park, Illinois. This is the home where the famous American author Ernest Hemingway was born. For the first six years of his life, Ernest Hemingway shared the house with his parents and siblings. In 1905, the Hemingway family sold the family home, and in the years that followed, it was renovated and turned into a residence that could accommodate multiple families. The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park made the purchase of the home in the month of December in the year 1992. A significant restoration project was managed by the foundation, and it utilized photographs and written descriptions of the house in order to bring it back to its initial state. The house has been preserved and opened to the public as a Hemingway museum ever since it was first opened in 2001, and the foundation also provides tours of the property.
